Today (20th April) marks a month since we were instructed by the Government to close in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. This is the longest period of time that anyone can remember the club being shut in its history so it can certainly be considered unprecedented times.

Some messages from the time we’ve been shut:

  • Members and their family/friends are reminded not to use our facilities, including all pitches and out-buildings, until further notice. There were a couple of instances of this occurring in the first weeks of lockdown and Police responded by closing all to our grounds at weekends and on non-working Fridays. Please observe these guidelines during the working week too

  • The office is open on a part-time basis so can be contacted via the routes at the bottom of this email. We have been focusing on the continuing pay and wellbeing of our staff, keeping in touch with some of our regulars who are vulnerable, maintaining relationships with our suppliers and of course feeding Reggie the Cat!

  • We are keeping a close eye on Government announcements and will inform you all as to when we may be in a position to open again. As I’m sure you will all appreciate, we cannot guarantee this will be immediately after any lifting of restrictions on pubs, clubs etc. as we need to ensure we have staff lined up ready to work; we have drink, food and toiletry supplies and have performed a deep clean. Although this looks many months away and we are missing you all tremendously, we will naturally only open when it is safe to do so

  • We have received queries about payment of membership during the time we are shut. The Exec Committee will be discussing this in due course, once we have a better view of when we will be opening again
